BeenThere Expats installs straight from this page: no app store, nothing to download from elsewhere. It opens like any other app and can send you notifications.
Open this page on your phone. On Android, tap Install in Chrome's menu; on iPhone, use Share, then Add to Home Screen in Safari.
Install in one tap
Your browser will ask you to confirm. The app appears on your home screen or desktop.
Add it to your home screen
- Tap the Share button in Safari's toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add, then open BeenThere Expats from your home screen.
The app asks you to log in once more (iPhone keeps it separate from Safari), then offers to turn on notifications. They work from the installed app, on iOS 16.4 or later.

On iPhone, apps can only be installed from Safari. Copy the link, open Safari and paste it in the address bar.
Open this page in your browser
